With incessant rainfall in many states and cities in Gujarat, many areas are witnessing floods. The state’s southern and Saurashtra regions are the worst hit by heavy rainfall. Junagadh is witnessing flash floods, with videos of cattle and cars being washed away. Another video from the state that is going viral features Ahmedabad airport. Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhai Patel airport was flooded with knee-high water on Saturday night.

Following two days of nonstop rain in Gujarat, the Sardar Vallabhai Patel Airport in Ahmedabad was reportedly knee-deep in water on Saturday night. Videos of the airport’s allegedly flooded runways and terminals were shared on social media by a number of individuals.

Due to heavy rains and waterlogging, travellers who arrived in Ahmedabad were detained at the airport for hours. The images show people struggling to get to the airport in knee-deep water and airport staff trying to keep things running smoothly while wearing water safety gear.

Authorities have advised travellers to check in with their airlines about their flights as a result of the waterlogging at the airport, which has made it difficult for travellers to arrive for their flights on time.

On Twitter, a person shared pictures of water outside the Gujarat airport and said it took her approximately 40 minutes to get off her airplane.

On Saturday, Ahmedabad experienced 101 mm of rain in only two hours, flooding streets and homes while also closing the city’s underpass to traffic as a precaution. The heavy rainfall led to flooding in many areas of the city including the Ahmedabad airport.

Numerous parked automobiles and cattle in Junagadh were submerged in raging waves after the city received 219 mm of rain in 8 hours up until 4pm. on Saturday. Wading through waist-deep water to move to safer locations was observed, and volunteers had to save some of the people who were being carried away by powerful currents.

On Saturday, numerous districts in southern Gujarat and Saurashtra had heavy to very heavy rain, which resulted in a flood-like situation in urban areas and isolated villages as dams and rivers’ water levels rose to dangerous levels.
