In case Egypt is on your 2026 vacation list, revise your budget with a slight adjustment. On March 1, 2026, tourism authorities will raise the entry visa fee to 30, up to 25. No drama or cancelling a trip, a detail to be remembered before you come.
Egypt Raises The Entry Visa Fee As Of March 1, 2026
The change applies to tourists who have flown to major airports, i.e. Cairo and Hurghada and are charged on arrival visas. Nile Cruise and PANArmenian.Net claim that the fee increase is a bigger scheme to upgrade the services in the airport and modernise the tourist experience, along with increased visitor numbers.
The Applicability Of The New Visa Fee
The $5 increment will be experienced by the tourists who get their visa at the airport bank counters. The change in fee is only applicable to arrivals at Cairo International Airport and at Hurghada International Airport.
When you fly into either of these airports and intend to go out of resort areas, you will now pay 30 as opposed to 25. It is the same process, counters, and paperwork, only with a higher charge.
Sharm El-Sheikh Entry Is Still Free
Entry without a visa up to 15 days is still open at the Sharm el‑Sheikh International Airport as long as you are not leaving the Sinai Peninsula. In case you are going beyond Sinai to Cairo, Luxor, or Aswan, then you need to take a paid visa.
What The Government Is Targeting?
A circular that was released to travel agencies on 2nd April 2026, the captain stated that the increment of the fee is to support the enhancement of digital services, enhanced reception in airports and improved capacity to accommodate the increased number of tourists.
There was a proposed initial charge of $45 in 2025. The last 30 is a calculated strategy that can be accommodated under the long-term 2030 Tourism Strategy in Egypt.
The idea is to transition away to a low-cost base to a high-value, quality-oriented model.

What’s Not Changing?
Numerous details remain the same.
Multi-entry visas remain at a cost of 60 dollars. Visa-on-arrival is not eliminated, and most nationalities find it easy to enter. An increase of five dollars does not change that equation, but it is an indicator of a destination that is in its future rather than in its past.
