The city of Ayodhya grandly celebrates Diwali because it is the birthplace of Lord Ram and it holds a major significance in the story of Ramayan. If you want to visit Ayodhya during Diwali then you have to visit these must-visit holy spots in Ayodhya. Get to know about these places and a little bit of their history. 

6 Must Visit Holy Places In Ayodha During Diwali

 

1. Ram Ki Paidi

It is a cluster of ghats on River Saryu in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. The waters of Saryu are regarded as holy, so many devotees come to take a sacred bath in it. During Diwali, Ram Ki Paidi becomes a spot for Deepotsav. Lakhs and lakhs of diyas or oil-filled clay lamps lit up. This practice of lightening diyas is on the eve of Diwali. Every year, they mark record-breaking lit diyas at Deepotsav. The landscape looks very magnificent and Instagram-worthy!

2. Ram Janmabhoomi

The name suggests that this place is the birthplace of Lord Ram. In English, it means “Birthplace of Ram.” Ram is also the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu. Pilgrims keep this place in high regard and it receives a huge footfall every year. The massive Ram Mandir is under construction in this region only, due to which it will become more of a popular attraction.

3. Sita Ki Rasoi

Sita Ki Rasoi translates exactly to its name, which means Sita’s kitchen. Situated near the northwest portion of Ram’s birthplace, Ram Janmabhoomi. People believe that this place was Sita’s original kitchen. Currently, this place transformed into a temple with various vessels that probably were used in this kitchen; they provide prasad as well.

4. Hanuman Garhi

Hanuman Garhi is a 10th-century Hanuman temple. The belief is that Hamunan resided here to protect the land of Ayodhya. This temple houses Hamunan’s mother, Anjani, with little Humuman sitting on her lap. Therefore, it is considered one of the most important temples in the city.

5. Kanak Bhawan

It is a must-visit temple for when you plan to visit Ayodhya. It is located on the northeast side of Ram Janmabhoomi. Believed to be gifted by Kaikei to Devi Sita to commemorate her marriage to Lord Ram. Therefore, it became a private place for Sita and Ram. Later, Vikramaditya got the place renovated and now the Bhawan houses statues of both Sita and Ram.

6. Gulab Bari

Gulab Bari translates to Garden of Roses. The tomb is of the third Nawab of Oudh (now called Awadh) named Nawab Shuja-ud-Daula. The tomb is in the middle of Charbagh Garden. It has water channels, step-wells and fountains; you can find distinct kinds of roses along these water bodies. Interestingly, it is said, the step-well connected to it was used as a hiding place by Nawab.
