Wamiqa Gabbi And Rajkummar Rao Reveal What Money Means To Them

Our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani sat down with Wamiqa Gabbi and Rajkummar Rao for a delicious Sunday Brunch at Bawri, Mumbai. The Haryanvi boy and the Punjabi kudi opened up like never before and spoke about their careers, passion for the craft, and what money means to them. Here’s how it went down.

What Money Means To Wamiqa Gabbi And Rajkummar Rao

“I was not born with money, I haven’t seen money growing up. So, my perspective is: Don’t give it too much importance but it is important. One should have enough that they can have their basic needs covered,” Rajkummar Rao shared his outlook.

Wamiqa Gabbi opened up that while she does not come from a very poor family, she has seen her fair share of struggles with money. “My parents, especially my father, worked really hard to ensure whatever little I asked for, like going on some school trip or a new birthday dress, was fulfilled. Yeah mujhe bahut baad main pata chala ki he would sometimes lend money from other people to make those wishes come true, but he would never tell me about it,” she revealed.

Rajkummar Rao also added that even his mother would often borrow money from people for his sake. Amazed by the struggles of their parents, the duo lauded the generation for their generosity and willingness to do anything for their kids.

What Makes This Duo Feel Successful?

Having tasted their share of hits and successes now, we couldn’t help but ask the duo what success means to them. “To me, going back home, to my loved ones, and having a peaceful sleep at night–that is success. Jiss din woh nahi hota, uss din lagta hai aaj ka din acha nahi raha, it was not a successful day,” Rajkummar Rao shared his idea of success in an admirable way.

“I do feel successful now. I truly feel that because now my parents and my family are really proud of me. They have always been proud of me but I think they always wanted to see me do a Bollywood film. I feel that with my new film, Bhul Chook Maaf, I have become successful for my parents,” Wamiqa added.
