With roots in India over 3,000 years ago, Ayurveda is a natural medical system that claims to have an answer for every problem. These days, aging is the main issue for most individuals! Even though ageing is a natural occurrence, nobody wants to get older. How do you reduce its speed? Pomegranates are the remedy, according to Ayurveda. Modern research now supports a discovery made by Ayurveda thousands of years ago.
Pomegranate: Perfect Solution For Ageing By Ayurveda
Praised as a wonderful fruit, pomegranates suit all shapes and sizes of bodies. They are highly valued for their tridoshic and balancing qualities and offer a plethora of health advantages.
It has been demonstrated that pomegranates are an excellent source of antioxidants, potassium, vitamin C, and polyphenols. Eating one pomegranate per day can strengthen your immune system and body.
Due to the time it takes to extract the seeds from the fruit’s covering, people tend to avoid eating this extremely nutritious fruit, which causes them to miss out on some incredible advantages.
The bark, juice, fruit, and root are all employed in Ayurvedic medicine. Despite having a sour flavour, it is astringent and specifically balances Pitta. Ayurveda also proudly mentions that consuming this fruit can also help in slowing down the process of ageing.

Pomegranate Initiates The Process Of Mitophagy
Pomegranates may be the fruit that best fights the body’s ageing chemicals, according to current research. That’s precisely what a study led by researchers from the Swiss research centre Federale de Lausanne, which was published in the journal Nature Medicine, asserts.
Scientists observed throughout the study that a chemical in pomegranates, which, when consumed, is changed by gut microorganisms, may allow muscle cells to defend themselves against one of the most major causes of ageing.
Pomegranate initiates a process known as “mitophagy” to slow down the ageing process. The tiny energy producers known as mitochondria, which are found in every cell in our body, may be familiar to you from reading or hearing.
These mitochondria deteriorate with age and can occasionally even become poisonous. Therefore, the process by which cells recycle old mitochondria into new mitochondria is known as mitophagy. But as we age, this process slows down and cells develop defective mitochondria, which can cause a variety of issues, including weakening in the muscles. (As per India Today)

Not Everyone Has The Same Gut Bacteria
Pomegranates have strong anti-ageing qualities, although they work indirectly. Small compounds called ellagitannins are found in fruit; when injected, these molecules are converted into urolithin A by gut bacteria.
The aforementioned research demonstrated that urolithin A is the one that stimulates mitophagy, which increases muscle performance and prolongs life. However, the transformation of ellagitannins into urolithin A varies from person to person since not everyone has the same gut bacteria.
The first and only substance that is known to be able to restart mitochondrial recycling is urolithin A. Pomegranates not only offer anti-ageing qualities but also antioxidants that aid in preventing and repairing DNA damage. Pomegranate juice is also supposed to help those with ischemic coronary heart disease by increasing blood flow to the heart.
