On December 7, Thursday, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared a breathtaking glimpse of India’s first bullet train station at Sabarmati Multimodal transport hub in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The much-awaited train station will make the commute between metropolitan cities, Ahmedabad and Mumbai, a smooth and seamless one. Here’s more to it.

Union Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw took to his X handle, @AshwiniVaishnaw to share a video of India’s first bullet train station in Ahmedabad. The short videos give Netizens a glimpse into this architectural marvel. Sabarmati Multimodal Transport Hub boasts of state-of-the-art modern amenities that will offer passengers comfort and a convenient travel experience. With technical and financial support from the Government of Japan, this ambitious project will beckon passengers travelling to and from Ahmedabad and Mumbai.

This bullet train will run between the two cities in about 2.07 hours at a maximum speed of 350 km per hour. Launched in 2017, this project was inaugurated by PM Modi and the former PM of Japan Shinzo Abe. To execute this project, the Government took a Japanese soft loan, which is 81 per cent of the total project cost of ₹1,08,000 crore. For which the Government will repay at 0.1% interest per annum for 50 years. This includes a grace period of 15 years. Also, the Centre provided ₹10,000 crore for the project. And Gujarat and Maharashtra each contributed ₹ 5,000 crore each.

Earlier, Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that India’s first bullet train will be along a stretch of 50 km between Bilimora and Surat in Gujarat. Also, he stated that this will be completed in August 2026. Also, he revealed that a major step which involves the development of 100 km of viaducts and 230 km of pier work is part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor. And the Bilimora-Surat section is part of it.

When it comes to the video of India’s first bullet train station, it impressed Netizens in no time. The beautiful lighting, spacious corridors, escalators and plush interiors left Internet users awestruck. In no time the video went viral, garnering 583.2K views and over 500 comments.

Furthermore, he stated that this new multimodal transport hub promises a new era of high-speed connectivity. @YashNaiknavare chimes in and describes it as a glorious structure that perfectly blends modernity and Indian heritage. He lauds the railways sector for the amazing work that will propel the country to another level. @imaheshbhavsar goes on to show another video of the station during daylight and it looks vibrant with motifs of freedom fighters.
