Several areas in Mumbai will see a water supply shortage in the next few days due to a fire breakout at BMC’s Pise Water Pumping Station. The fire broke out on February 26 evening and has severely impacted the water supply in the area and other significant parts of the city. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has requested the citizens to cooperate and utilise water judiciously until the issue is resolved. Fire Breakout At BMC’s Pise Water Pumping Station, Water Supply Affected

On February 26 evening, a massive fire broke out at BMC’s Pise Water Pumping Station. BMC took to their social media to announce this news. They also mentioned that the water supply in several areas in Mumbai will be impacted due to this fire breakout. In its initial post, BMC announced that this “incident has impacted the water supply in the eastern part of eastern suburbs.” Furthermore, the water supply from Golanji, Fosbery, Raoli, and Bhandarwada reservoirs is also impacted. This means there will be no water supply in the area for 24 hours.

Not just that, several other parts of the city will be affected due to water shortage. In a follow-up post, BMC announced that T Ward (East and West), S Ward (Nahur East, Bhandup East, Vikhroli East), N Ward (Vikhroli East, Ghatkopar East, Sarvodaya Nagar, Narayan Nagar), M East and M West, F South and F North ward, and E, B, and A Wards that receive water from Bhandarwada Reservoir will see 100% water cut.

The rest of the municipal area in the western suburbs, eastern suburbs, and city areas will see a 30% water shortage due to this fire breakout.

The BMC is trying to solve the issue as soon as possible. BMC had to shut down the transformer at the water pumping station after the fire incident. The repair and restoration work has impacted the water supply. For now, they have urged the people to utilise water resources judiciously. They have asked for people’s cooperation to quickly resolve the issue and restore normalcy soon.

We hope the situation resolves as soon as possible and water supply resumes soon in these areas.
