Last year, Gujarat brought Pride to Vadodara with its first-ever LGBTQ+ cafe! It is an inclusivity cafe which is run and owned by the LGBTQ+ community. While exploring the city with the founder and managing partner of Rukam Capital, Archana Jahagirdar, we had to check out this gem of an eatery. Our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, and Archana headed to this spot to catch up about business and more while relishing delectable items off the menu.

Archana Jahagirdar And Kamiya Jani At The LGBTQ+ Cafe In Vadodara

Gazra Cafe is the first eatery in Vadodara which is owned and run by the LGBTQ+ community! The Gaekwad Trust is the supporter of this establishment that aims to put diverse cuisines on the plate and help to embrace and empower its LGBTQ+ staff. We couldn’t skip this special place; checked it out and gorged on Maharashtrian and Gujarati cuisine.

The interiors were simple and cosy with white walls adorned with numerous framed photographs. The pop of colour came from the vibrant, multi-coloured decor against the wooden tables, chairs and khatiya. They matched perfectly and the cherry on top was the red lampshades hanging from the ceilings.

After settling down we quickly scanned their menu and ordered food. We were served kanche wali banta drinks which was a great drink to start the feast of plates of puri with matar aloo, nachos paired with salsa, chilla, bhel puri, fritters, and more. Now, it was feasting time with Archana Jahagirdar!

Her Thoughts On Start-Ups

Archana Jahagirdar told us that people are going crazy over start-ups. There are more and more start-ups growing in recent years than ever. She mentioned that she is looking forward to individuals in tier-2 and tier-3 cities coming up with fantastic start-up ideas and implementing them. At this point, start-ups and creativity have to be mainstreamed.

She points out that if India wants to build a ten trillion dollar economy, then folks from every part of the country should contribute to it, whether it is in business, startups or other things. This is an interesting take, Archana.
