Weather Update: Tamil Nadu To Witness Heavy Rainfall Till Jan 15; IMD Issues Orange Alert For Fog Across Delhi-NCR

It looks like dense fog conditions are likely to persist in North India for the next few days. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several North Indian states like Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Delhi-NCR will witness dense to very dense fog conditions and even issued an orange alert for the same. IMD Issues Orange Alert For Dense Fog Conditions In North India

As per IMD’s latest forecast, dense fog conditions are very likely in the Delhi-NCR region, as well as several North Indian states till January 14. They have also issued an orange alert regarding the same. Besides Delhi, an orange alert for dense to very dense conditions has also been issued for Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab during the night and early morning hours. Besides the fog, cold waves also gripped North India after rainfall over the weekend.

Due to the foggy weather on January 13, several trains were delayed, while some trains have also been cancelled in Delhi. According to NDTV, the Purushottam Express was delayed for more than five hours, Poorva Express was delayed by more than three hours, and Shramjeevi Express and JBP NZM SF Express also experienced around three-hour delays.

Heavy Rainfall Predicted In Tamil Nadu

For Tamil Nadu, IMD has issued a heavy rain warning till January 15. An alert has been issued for 12 districts in the state with thunderstorms and lightning warnings. According to The Times of India, heavy rainfall is likely in Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Ranipet, Vellore, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvannamalai, Pudukottai districts, and Karaikal.

Bengaluru is also set to experience its first rainfall of 2025. As per reports, after a dry spell, the city will see rainfall on January 13 and 14. This rainfall is due to a cyclonic circulation forming over the southeast Bay of Bengal. This will bring light rains to the city and offer relief from the current warm weather.
