How To Make Shookies?
Here’s a recipe for the classic shookie, a large chocolate chip cookie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top:
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- Vanilla ice cream
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9-inch (23 cm) round cake pan with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and creamy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture, and beat until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in the chocolate chips
- Press the cookie dough into the prepared cake pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the cookie is golden brown and set around the edges. The centre should still be slightly soft.
- Remove the cookie from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, carefully transfer the cookie to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once the cookie has cooled, place a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of the cookie.
- Serve the giant chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream immediately. You can slice it like a cake and enjoy the warm, gooey cookie with the cold, creamy ice cream.
- Optionally, you can drizzle chocolate sauce or caramel sauce over the cookie and ice cream for extra flavour.
Moreover, this dessert combines the best of both worlds – a warm, soft chocolate chip cookie with a cold, refreshing scoop of vanilla ice cream.
