The year 2024 witnessed a remarkable transformation in India’s delivery landscape, with quick commerce and last-mile delivery services becoming increasingly embedded in daily life. Analysis of over 15 million deliveries by Borzo (formerly known as WeFast) unveiled what India ordered the most in 2024, revealing fascinating insights into consumer behaviour and market trends.
What India Ordered The Most In 2024
Food and clothing remained the dominant categories, whilst pharmaceutical deliveries emerged as a rapidly growing segment. The convenience of doorstep delivery particularly influenced medicine purchases, with consumers valuing the minimal effort required to obtain prescriptions.
Metropolitan areas showed distinct delivery patterns, with average distances varying significantly. Delhi led with 16.6 km, followed by Bengaluru at 14.5 km, Mumbai at 13.2 km, Hyderabad at 12 km, and Chennai at 11.8 km.
Delivery efficiency proved impressive, with orders within a 5 km radius typically completed in 19 minutes, whilst distances beyond 10 km required over an hour.

Interesting regional preferences emerged across cities. Mumbai and Pune showed particular fondness for Pav deliveries within short distances, whilst Hyderabad led in fruit deliveries, particularly bananas. During the T20 World Cup final, which saw India victorious, there was a notable surge in snack deliveries, with items like banana chips and cup noodles seeing significant demand.
The business sector demonstrated diverse delivery needs, with groceries comprising 40 per cent of orders, whilst food and e-commerce each represented 20 per cent. The remaining 20% encompassed various sectors, including NGOs, educational institutions, and financial services.
The festival season proved particularly active, with Diwali 2024 registering a 25 per cent increase in deliveries compared to the previous year. This growth notably benefited MSMEs, who frequently shipped spare parts, equipment, and apparel.
