Delivery riders make our lives so much easier, don’t you agree? After all, they deliver everything from piping-hot food to little knick-knacks, or even gadgets at our doorstep. This in turn allows us to be free from the hassle of stepping out and running these errands ourselves. But can you imagine how challenging it can be for them on the road? Well, keeping this in mind, the Department of Municipalities & Transport in Abu Dhabi is planning to do something for the delivery riders. Here’s all you need to know about the introduction of the Delivery Riders Hub pilot project.

Delivery Riders Hub Pilot Project To Come Into Effect This Sept

According to a report, by the Gulf News, it was revealed that the Department of Municipalities & Transport has announced its decision of introducing the Delivery Riders Hub pilot project. It is expected to be implemented in Abu Dhabi this September and has been developed in collaboration with Abu Dhabi government entities. Not to mention, the private sector and non-profit organisations are also a part of this effort by the DMT for enhancing the public appearance of the city. Moreover, this project aims at offering a suitable work environment for delivery motorcycle riders.

How Will This Be Beneficial For Delivery Riders In Abu Dhabi?

According to the report, this project aims to provide a suitable work environment by offering safe spaces with shaded waiting areas, comfortable seating that will be equipped with air-conditioning, and drinking water facilities. These provisions will especially help in enhancing their working condition during the harsh summer months. This initiative comes after several interviews of the delivery riders revealed some of the main issues and challenges they faced during work, as it happens, these new hubs have been designed in such a way that can that they can easily be produced and assembled. Not to mention, they can accommodate up to 15 people at a time and the project will also ensure the safety of drivers. Thereby also resolving the issue of vehicles occupying pedestrian paths.

So, with this step towards offering an enhanced working environment for delivery riders, this is a move towards showcasing the emirate’s position as a smart and inclusive city for all
