What Is Hacking Water, The Latest Social Media Trend For Weight Loss?

If you search for weight loss methods, you’ll find that drinking more water is one of the first things that come up. Although it’s unclear how much water we should drink daily, the argument that we should drink more remains strong. However, it’s hard to keep track of it and not easy to do, leading some people to prefer drinking soda or other sugary drinks. To combat this, a new social media weight loss trend has emerged: the Watertok or Hacking Water

What Is Hacking Water Or Watertok ?

Users create a creative version of flavoured waters using sugar-free syrups, and they have gone viral on TikTok.

The Watertok trend has received around 94.1 million views on TikTok. Users showcase their flavoured water recipes in their enormous metal cups. The flavours and the names of these zero-calorie beverages are very creative. For example, there is Green Apple Mermaid, Peach Ring, Dole Whip, Banana Split, and even Birthday Cake.

One of the most famous users is Spanglo. She combines one packet of zero-calorie powdered flavour packets with one or two zero-calorie syrups such as dragon fruit acai, peach, coconut, unicorn, raspberry, pistachio latte, and vanilla almond, to create her water of the day.

Whether this is just another fad or an actual good hack depends on two questions: does drinking water cause weight loss, and are sugar-free drinks good or bad for you?

According to the Internet, drinking water can help us lose weight by maintaining a calorie deficit. We consume fewer calories when we drink more water, and our system is comparatively more satiated than before.

However, water alone probably won’t help us lose weight. We need to combine it with a balanced diet and exercise. While sugar-free drinks are not harmful, some contain artificial sweeteners that can have adverse effects on our health.

In conclusion, flavoured water can be a fun and easy way to drink more water and reduce our calorie intake. But we should remember that they are not a magic solution to weight loss and should be combined with a healthy lifestyle.
