Citizens of Muscat just got a reason to rejoice because the government is doing something amazing for them, to lend them their support. We are talking about the fact that now those who earn less than OMR600 per month can apply for marriage support under the new scheme. Here’s all you need to know about this initiative in Oman.

Marriage Support Scheme Launched In Muscat

Recently, the government launched the Marriage Support Scheme to help Omani citizens earning OMR600 or less monthly. This development comes as part of assisting citizens with marriage in the governorate. Launched by the Muscat Governorate, this scheme aims to lessen some of the marriage-related financial burden for eligible Omani citizens. Yes, making it accessible through the governorate’s official website, there are certain criteria that the applicants must meet before they can qualify for this aid.

Eligibility Criteria For This Scheme

As revealed in a report by the Gulf News, applicants must meet certain criteria before they can qualify for this scheme. These criteria are as follows:

  • Applicants must be Omani citizens aged between 22 and 45
  • They should never have been married
  • Applicant must be a resident of the Muscat Governorate
  • The applicant must be marrying another Omani citizen
  • And of course, the monthly income should not be more than OMR600

What About Documentation?

In fact, there are even certain documents that are required for the application. This includes copies of the applicant’s ID, employer-endorsed salary certificate, and certified marriage contract. The applications can be submitted online or they can also be done through email. However, these applications are subject to a verification process. Once it is reviewed, applicants who are eligible will be notified on their phone. As it happens, the service is free, and the review only takes up to 30 working days.

This development in Muscat comes after His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik established a national marriage support fund, which allocates OMR1 million to each of the 11 governorates of the Sultanate.
