Mudar Patherya is the mastermind who pioneered the Calcutta Illumination Project. Tushar Bhala is the man behind the stunning lights that are shining on the heritage structures of Kolkata which are his muse. Bhala’s designation is the principal lighting designer at Hind Lighting, this city’s biggest light vendor since 1957. Both of them are highly motivated by a sense of belongingness and conceptualise structures’ illumination with love.

Mudar’s earlier plan was to cover 500 of these heritage buildings for over five years. Luckily, Mudar and Tushar collaborated and there has been progress in covering buildings at a much quicker pace. Within three months, they have finished 30 buildings and can ideate and execute three projects in a week! Now, Mudar hopes and evaluates it will be done and dusted within two years.

One of the important buildings they want to light up is the LIC Building!
