Hyderabad Metro Introduces The Tutem App For Safer Travel

Hyderabad Metro Rail has taken a progressive step by launching the Tutem App, a mobility safety solution aimed at enhancing women’s security. Developed by Hyderabad-based startup Tutem Innovations, the app forms part of a pilot project by L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited (LTMRHL).

According to The Indian Express, passengers can scan a QR code placed inside each metro coach. Once scanned, the app tracks their journey in real time. If a traveller feels unsafe, they can immediately press an SOS button within the app. This triggers alerts to both emergency contacts and metro authorities, enabling prompt action.

The Tutem App is designed for two-way communication between passengers and metro control rooms. As reported by The Indian Express, each coach’s QR code allows unique identification, making it easy to trace a traveller’s exact location during emergencies.

Metro authorities can swiftly dispatch security teams to assist passengers once an alert is received. Hyderabad Metro, through its official X account, also showcased live demonstrations of the app’s emergency response system, highlighting its real-time tracking capabilities.
