When Coastal Road Opens For Public, BEST Buses Will Also Ply On It But Only For 12 Hours

Mumbaikars, we come bearing good news! About 84% of the coastal road project has been completed! This impressive milestone is giving the people in the city hope that, despite many delays, the road might be completed by its May 2024 deadline. Furthermore, for public ease, authorities have decided to run BEST buses on the coastal road with eight bus stops so far determined. Read on to know more about this development.

BEST To Ply On The Route, Will Remain Closed On The Weekends

Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport (BEST) Buses will ply on the Mumbai coastal road but only for 12 hours. As per information, there will be eight stops of BEST to provide seamless and efficient public transportation to the people. Furthermore, they will reserve the fourth lane on Mumbai coastal road for BEST buses and emergency vehicles. However, as per the current information, the road will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

A part of this road – from Worli to Marine Drive – is likely to be open for public use by mid-February. What is to be noted is that the last decided deadline for the entire project is in May 2024.

Some Details About The Mumbai Coastal Road Project

Covering a stretch of 10.58 kilometres, the first phase of the coastal road from Princess Street to Worli Sea Link will begin in February. A speed limit of 80 to 100 km per hour has been decided for vehicles on this route to ensure passenger and vehicle safety. The authorities have also decided to install 24 CCTV cameras, 30 video incident detection systems. Also, 80 SOS points will be added every 100 metres on this road.

These important safety measures and speed to complete the project on time are quite impressive!
