It is almost every day that a new scamming technique is coming to light. This time, a 27 -year-old Mumbai doctor who is a surgeon at KEM hospital, lost ₹1.40 Lakh while trying to order samosas. The doctor was set to go on a picnic to Karjat with his friends and after searching online, had located a popular eatery in Sion, Mumbai. Assuming he was placing the order on the eatery’s website, he placed an order for 25 samosas.

But what he did not know was that the website was a fake site made by fraudsters using the eatery’s name. The victim was then asked to pay ₹1,500 as an advance payment for the order. After receiving the order confirmation via Whatsapp, the doctor discovered a bank account number provided for online payment. The doctor proceeded to send ₹1,500 as instructed.
