The Diwali festive season is very chaotic for the passengers as well as the railway authorities. So, to manage the crowd better and ensure passenger safety, the South Central Railway (SCR) launched special arrangements like special trains, additional help desks, and more ticketing counters at major stations. Scroll on to know more about this.
SCR Special Arrangements To Manage Diwali Rush
SCR officials have announced elaborate arrangements to manage the crowd and ensure the safety of passengers during the Diwali rush. According to The Hindu, they have set up special cells at the command and control centres at major railway stations like Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Kachiguda, Vijayawada, and Tirupati. This will help them monitor the crowd and ensure the punctuality of train services around the clock.

According to the notification published on South Central Railway’s X (formerly Twitter) handle, to facilitate smooth management of the crowd, SCR will operate 850 special trains this festive season. Additionally, they have made arrangements to add extra coaches to existing trains to ferry more passengers. At the stations, they have set up additional ticket-booking counters, and help desks, and deployed more sanitation staff and ticket-checking staff to handle the crowd. SCR has also formed special teams to prevent ticketless travel.
Catering stalls at the stations have also been instructed to stock up on food items to meet the additional demand during this festive period. They have also worked together with IRCTC to ensure adequate onboard catering.
More Patrolling & Focus On Security Amid The Festive Season
Keeping the festive rush in mind, SCR has also strengthened the deployment of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) at major stations. As per The Hindu, patrolling has been intensified on the platforms, circulating areas, and running trains for passenger safety and security. CCTV monitoring has also been amped up to prevent any criminal activities and keep an eye on suspicious movements.
We hope that all these efforts by SCR will help the passenger have a safe commute. Also, kudos to all the railway officials for working extra hard during the festive season!
