National Bal Bhavan was established for children by India’s first prime minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It gives children a chance to extend their knowledge beyond books and to learn by doing, and express themselves freely. Today, it is one of the most unique places for kids aged 5 to 16 years, where every child is welcome and every dream is nurtured.
Every year, National Bal Bhavan hosts a Summer Fiesta. During the holidays, kids can sign up for a wide range of workshops and activities like arts & crafts, music, theatre, science experiments, creative writing, and sports. A perfect chance to explore their talents, this summer program is an exciting combination of fun and learning.
One of the highlights at National Bal Bhavan is the Mini Train. It is a real miniature railway gifted by Pandit Nehru! For kids with an inclination towards science, the Science Park is the perfect spot where they can see concepts come to life. For example, there’s a see-saw that teaches balance and weight and swings of different lengths that explain time and motion. The Magic Mirror Room has funny-shaped mirrors that reflect silly images. It may look like pure fun, but it also gets kids thinking about the science behind it.
Children can also get up close and personal with pigeons, parrots, ducks, rabbits, and other animals at National Bal Bhavan. With its collection of comics, storybooks, magazines, and books on science and art, the Children’s Library is another exciting place at the Bhavan. Whether your child is 5 or 15, there’s something in the library that will inspire and educate them.
