Alaska Airlines and Air India recently formed an interline agreement. Through this partnership, Air India customers will have easy access to connections to 32 destinations in the USA, Mexico, and Canada that are part of Alaska Airlines’ network, from a variety of gateways, such as New York JFK, Newark-New Jersey, Washington DC, Chicago, San Francisco, and Vancouver.

An interline arrangement is a contract that permits tickets for flights run by the partner airline to be issued and accepted. The operating airlines’ flight numbers are utilised when interline tickets are sold. Bilateral interlining is a feature of the relationship between Alaska Airlines and Air India that enables both airlines to offer tickets on one another’s networks.
In addition, a Special Prorate Agreement between the two airlines permits Air India to provide “through fares” on flights that traverse Alaska Airlines’ network. This implies that travellers can buy a single ticket at a single fare that covers every location on their route. The Tata Group company Air India is aggressively growing its footprint in both local and global networks.
Typically, when two airlines collaborate, they take care of each other’s passengers’ baggage and check-in. This implies that passengers will receive all of their boarding tickets, only need to check in once for all of the flights on the schedule, and their luggage will be moved from the first airline to the second airline, saving them from having to pick it up and leave it off twice.

By facilitating convenient access to locations not offered by the original airline, interline agreements help the participating airlines draw in additional passengers. Additionally, it can assist international airlines in reaching more domestic destinations. To optimise bookings, airlines such as Emirates have signed various interline agreements with local carriers.
400 Additional Flights By The Airline
Air India plans to add approximately 400 extra flights per week on its domestic and international routes until March 2024 as part of the winter schedule for 2023.
In a media statement, Air India stated that, as a result of anticipated new aircraft deliveries, the airline would build its India network by adding more than 200 weekly flights over the following six months. The aircraft would operate on multiple itineraries that would pass through important Indian cities including Delhi and Mumbai.
The airline intends to run over 200 weekly flights on international routes, of which more than 80 have already been added. In due future, the airline intends to announce the addition of four new international destinations to its network.
Beginning with the Winter Schedule 2023, the airline increased frequency by 25 times weekly flights on eight international routes that connect locations in Southeast Asia, the US, and Europe.
According to Air India CEO and MD Campbell Wilson, the airline intended to densify and expand the current network in order to meet the rising demand for air travel in India. As part of Air India’s continuous evolution, updating its fleet and launching new goods and services are important priorities.
