Karnataka has faced its share of challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. And now, The state government, with the rising cases has implemented various measures to curb the spread of the virus and mitigate its impact on the healthcare system and the economy. The unexpected increase in active coronavirus cases in numerous Indian states is a serious concern. Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said on Friday that he has asked healthcare personnel to increase testing and collect samples from all people with flu-like symptoms.
Karnataka To Increase COVID Testing
Karnataka is experiencing an increase in positive infection cases at this time. In just 24 hours, the state saw an increase of more than 75%. Karnataka reported 260 new COVID cases on Wednesday. Compared to prior years, January 3 saw an increase of more than 75%, bringing the total number of cases to 260 that day. According to Wednesday’s reports, the cases had a positive rate of 3.46 per cent, according to a Hindustan Times report.
Covid testing has been proposed as a requirement for all Influenza illnesses (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI). The minister met with senior health authorities and stated that the state is conducting a significant number of COVID-19 tests.
According to a Hindustan Times Report, every day, almost 7,000 tests are performed. Covid has a positive rate of 3.82 per cent. In the state of Kerala, a declining trend in COVID has already begun. As a result, it has been proposed that those who are Covid positive be closely monitored. It is advised that compulsory COVID screening be performed, especially if individuals exhibit signs of ILI. Previously, just one in every twenty of these instances was exposed to a covid test. The minister further added that all commercial and government hospitals are now required to perform Covid tests on all ILI patients.
Officials also stated that the number of Covid cases in Karnataka will begin to decline beginning next week. On Friday, Karnataka had roughly 300 new COVID cases, including four deaths.

Home Isolation Was Also Mandated
Last week, the state health department of Karnataka advised that patients who test positive for COVID-19 remain at home. At the moment, the state has 34 JN.1 variant cases.
Furthermore, mobile Priority will be given to the acquisition of oxygen generation and filling units (at least one in each division) to increase the State’s capacity to fill oxygen. To ensure readiness, hospitals must perform simulated exercises. Ventilators and hospital beds must be provided at all times.
If their COVID-19 test results are positive, employees of both government and non-government organisations are eligible for a seven-day home isolation leave.
