The sudden jump in active cases of coronavirus in several states of India is a major cause of concern. The concerned departments have reinitiated some COVID-related guidelines and restrictions in many places to prevent the virus from spreading in huge numbers. This time, Karnataka is reporting a surge in positive cases of infections. In just 24 hours, the state reported an uptick of more than 75 per cent.

With every passing day, the numbers of new infections are changing in this state. It was on Wednesday when Karnataka reported 260 new COVID cases. In comparison to the previous numbers, January 3 reported a rise of more than 75 per cent leading to the total cases reaching 260 on that day. According to the updates from Wednesday, the cases saw a positivity rate of 3.46 per cent, according to a report by Hindustan Times.

One patient suffering from coronavirus passed away in Karnataka yesterday. The deceased was from the Koppala district. Including active cases from Wednesday, Karnataka reported a total of 1,175 active infections. 1,107 patients in these active cases stayed in isolation in their houses. 68 people were in hospitalisation. 45 patients among them were admitted in general wards and 2 of them took oxygen support. 21 patients had to be admitted to the ICU.

134 patients were from Bengaluru among the 260 new cases submitted yesterday, according to the health department. This took the overall number of active infections to 624 in the state capital. The overall number of COVID cases in Karnataka has now exceeded 40 lakhs. It was at about 40.91 lakhs recently. The infections have seen a surge in recent times making it a bit of concern for many.

New COVID Cases Updates From Different Districts Of The State:

  • Mysuru had 24 cases.
  • 20 cases were from Bengaluru Rural.
  • Shivamogga reported 11 infections.
  • Dakshina Kannada and Dharwad reported 9 cases in each district.
  • Mandya reported 8 cases.
  • 7 infections were from Ramanagara.
  • Tumakuru saw 6 cases.
  • 4 cases were reported from Bagalkote, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapura, and Uttara Kannada each.
  • Davanagere and Vijayanagar had 3 cases each.
  • 2 cases came from Ballari, Chitradurga, and Hassan.
