While catching flights is all the rage these days, nothing can truly replace the thrill and uniqueness of train journeys. A British solo traveller named Charlie has been backpacking her way around the world, and recently, she travelled from Mumbai to Goa on India’s Vande Bharat Express. For those who haven’t heard of it, the Vande Bharat Express is India’s pride in modern rail travel: fast, comfortable, and equipped with modern amenities. Sharing her experience on Instagram, her video reveals all the modern perks this train offers.

She booked the first-class ticket for this roughly 8-hour journey down to Madgaon, Goa, which cost her about €31.57 (about ₹3,011.73), which, while steep by Indian train standards, came with a lot of perks. The little touches, like a breakfast spread with fresh coffee, newspapers, and roses handed to every passenger as a warm welcome, made a lot of difference. Talk about feeling special!

But the real game-changer was the space. Charlie marvelled at having “the most legroom I’ve ever had on a train.” The seats are designed to spin, so you can either face your travel companions or rotate them to catch the stunning views outside.
