Woman Eats At Spicy Thai Restaurant In California, Sues Them For Serving “Too Spicy” Food

Stay alert as things are about to get very spicy here! We just heard about a woman who sued a Thai restaurant in California and the reason will simply shock you. Harjasleen Walia charged a lawsuit against this restaurant for serving extremely spicy food that made her suffer from “permanent bodily injuries”. Nestled in San Jose, Coup de Thai is a popular Thai restaurant. One of the biggest highlights of this place is its very spicy dishes. The customer visited the place on 15 July 2021 and ordered the famous Dragon Balls, according to her ordeal. In a 14-page document reviewed by The New York Post, she shared all about her experiences at this Thai restaurant. On 3 July, she lodged a complaint against the eatery at the Superior Court of Santa Clara County, according to a report by the Republic World.

According to her complaint, she allegedly faced “permanent bodily injuries” after eating Dragon Balls at Coup de Thai. Not just this, she further added in her lawsuit that she could feel her entire mouth, roof of her mouth, tongue, throat, and nose burning badly like fire. Walia started suffering from all these concerns right after eating the spicy dish at the San Jose restaurant.

It has been specified on the menu of Coup de Thai that Dragon Balls are extremely spicy and there is also a picture of hot red pepper next to the dish so that people can understand how spicy it is going to be. The restaurant gives a warning to the foodies with this chilli pepper. Costing $11, this dish is made with chicken, kaffir lime leaves, rice, cilantro, chilli, and green onion.

Harjasleen knew that Dragon Balls served at this place are very spicy. And this is why she requested a milder recipe. She could not tolerate spice and fell ill soon after eating the appetiser. Calling it “unfit for human consumption”, the lawsuit also claims that this food is “dangerous to life”.

According to the attorneys of the woman, they are demanding remuneration for all the medical costs and legal costs, and seeking general damages, according to a report by the New York Post.
