World’s Finest Tourism Village Is In Telangana & Here’s Why It Is A Must Visit!

United Nations World Tourism Organisation is all set to name Pochampally village in Telangana as the best tourism village in the world. India had nominated two more villages in the same category, Kongthong in Meghalaya and Ladhpura Khas in Madhya Pradesh. However, the Pochampally village is all set to take away the crown and here’s why this village should be on your bucket list too!

Pochampally Is Known For Its Exceptional Ikat Weaves

Pochampally is an artisanal village set about 50 kilometres from Hyderabad. It is known for its exceptional Ikat weaves and textures. Visitors from all over the country throng to the village to see the weavers at work with handlooms and play with colours.

Union Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy said after receiving the news, “On behalf of people of Pochampally in particular and Telangana, I am grateful that the award has been bestowed on the village.”

The Award Will Boost Tourism In Telangana

The recent UNESCO heritage tag for Ramappa Temple and the Best Tourism Village Award for Pochampally will significantly boost tourism in Telangana. The UNWTO is a world body that promotes sustainable tourism and is considered among the biggest tourism villages in the world. The UNWTO’s 24th annual meeting is set to throw its gates open on November 30 and will carry on till December 3 in Madrid, Spain.
