Every Indian wanted to be in Mumbai on July 4. The Indian cricket team arrived in Mumbai after winning the T20 World Cup and decided to celebrate with the fans. They planned a victory parade from Marine Drive to Wankhede Stadium in an open-top bus and it was a sight to sore eyes! Everyone wanted to be a part of this celebration and people went as far as booking sea-facing rooms in hotels around Marine Drive. And, reportedly, the hotels also made the most of this. According to an X post, many hotels around Marine Drive increased their room tariffs on July 4 to cash in on the celebrations going on outside.

Hotels Around Marine Drive Charged High Tariff During Indian Cricket Team Parade

After winning the T20 World Cup trophy and giving us the most exciting World Cup final, the Indian cricket team came back home on July 4. The boys had a hectic journey but they celebrated their victory with the nation and did a victory parade in Mumbai to celebrate with their fans. They started the parade from Marine Drive and travelled to Wankhede Stadium in an open-top bus and the sea of people on the way proved just how crazy the nation is about the game. And to witness this madness, people even booked rooms in hotels around Marine Drive.

And the hotels seemed to have clinched this opportunity well. According to Dr Rahul Baxi’s X post, hotels around Marine Drive increased their tariffs on July 4. As per his post, “Rooms at Trident were at 29000/- for today, at Intercontinental 18000/- for today. I met people from Mumbai who actually booked rooms for a night just to have access and a view of the Indian cricket team parade.”

On a usual day, the tariff for Trident’s Club Room is around ₹16,500, as per their website. For InterContinental Marine Drive, a premium sea view room costs around ₹13,933/night. Now, that’s what we call making the most of a situation!
