X User Slams Finnair’s New Non-Reclining Seats; Compares It To School Benches

Finnair, the flag carrier of Finland recently introduced new seats for its Business Class passengers. Promising elevated long-haul experiences, their all-new AirLounge seats have fixed-shell designs, functional stowage facilities, wireless charging and 18-inch screens. But these new innovative Business Class seats are non-reclining seats, which has irked a few passengers who have taken to X ( formerly Twitter) to share their experiences.

Journalist Flies Finnair; Experiences The All-New AirLounge Seats

Automotive Journalist and Policy Consultant, Kushan Mitra took to X to share his experience flying Finnair. Sharing a picture and a video of the airline’s new AirLounge seats for Business Class Passengers, ThePrint journalist wrote a review of his flying experience. In his caption, he mentions that he got the opportunity to fly again on Finnair’s “revolutionary” Business Class seat which is a fixed clamshell design that does not recline.

He says it’s pretty much like a couch where one can sit up and recline using a motor on the seat to raise the leg-rest. Lifting a small section on the opposite side makes it a bed that’s spacious enough to accommodate most heights. However, for those blessed with tall genes, the narrowness of the cubbyhole for one’s feet means having to squeeze on one side to catch a day’s rest.

Kushan Mitra agreed with him and said that the new seats weren’t great for large-sized people. The men even had a banter where Kushan asked Abhijit Iyer-Mitra if he wasn’t a fan of reindeer steak. To this, the political commentator replied that he prefers smoked reindeer hearts instead.

Travellers, do let us know if you wouldn’t mind a non-reclining seat for long-haul flights.
