Passengers departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), Mumbai, can now use the automated digital payment system to access and exit the Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP). This marks a significant advancement in smart mobility and digital transformation. The goal of this cashless payment method is to streamline the payment process, reduce wait times, and give customers a hassle-free parking experience.

The airport authorities strive to remove the need for cash transactions by enabling passengers to easily pay parking fees using digital wallets, debit/credit cards, UPI, or FASTag-based automatic deductions. This facility will not only improve traffic flow but will also reduce exit waits, opening the door for travellers to have a quick, easy, and comfortable parking experience.

At the moment, 66% of users at CSMIA’s MLCP choose FASTag as their main payment method, 10% to 15% choose UPI, credit, or debit cards, and 5% reserve parking spaces in advance. By collaborating with stakeholders and urging consumers to embrace automated digital payment methods, CSMIA hopes to further eradicate the use of cash, as 85% of passengers are already making cashless purchases. Passengers who choose to pay with cash, however, are only permitted to do so at the central payment stations.

Through the MLCP, users can pay for parking using a range of digital options, supporting the Government of India’s Digital India initiative. These choices include mobile wallets, debit/credit cards, UPI, or other online payment methods. To significantly expedite entry and exit, FASTag counters have also been installed in all customer lanes at the MLCP.

The Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP) at CSMIA offers FASTag users an automated parking process. This process eliminates the need for human intervention when it comes to cash or card payments or receipts.

The Mumbai Airport continues to set new benchmarks in smart airport solutions. These aid in enhancing efficiency, transparency, and sustainability through digital innovation, a CSMIA official stated in response to the project. At the MLCP, CSMIA’s transition to a digital payment system demonstrates its dedication to providing a contemporary, effective parking experience.
