Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday attended the launch event of Ashok Leyland Electric Double Decker Bus named Switch EiV 22 in Mumbai and urged automotive players to start working on making buses capable of traveling from Mumbai to Delhi in just 12 hours. Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari’s Vision For Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

During the launch of Ashok Leyland Electric Double Decker Bus named Switch EiV 22 in Mumbai, the Union transport minister shared his vision for the Delhi-Mumbai expressway and revealed how his plan was to link Nariman Point with Delhi. “70% of the work has already been completed,” said the minister. Nitin Gadkari also focused on how there is a need to transform the country’s transport system, from a long-term perspective.
“By focusing on urban transport reform, we are trying to build a low-carbon system. ecological footprint and integrated mobility ecosystem of electric vehicles (EVs) with high passenger density.
With growing consumer demand for greener transport solutions, the government’s vision and policies are aimed at encouraging greater adoption of electric vehicles,” he further added.

Gadkari’s Take On Electric Buses And More About The Recently Launched Switch EiV 22

The Union Transport Minister pitched for electricity as an alternative fuel in the launch event of Switch EiV 22 in Mumbai. Gadkari revealed how diesel and petrol are responsible for 35 percent of pollution in India. He believes there’s a need for import-substituting, cost-effective, pollution-free, and indigenous products. “It is time for India to start using alternative fuels like electricity, ethanol, methanol, bio-diesel, bio-CNG, bio-LNG, and green hydrogen for the automobile sector”, said Gadkari.
According to Ashok Leyland, the recently launched Switch EiV 22 Is the first and only air-conditioned electric double-decker bus in India. The bus is also designed, developed, and manufactured in India. As per the reports of the Company, Switch EiV 22 is equipped with the latest technologies, ultramodern design, maximum security, and best-in-class comfort features.
