The company released its year-end report for 2024 updating Indians with the latest insights on how people ordered food this year. No points for guessing! For the 9th consecutive year, biryani was the most-ordered food this year with 9 crore biryani orders in 2024. Interestingly, a foodie from Bengaluru spent a whopping ₹5 lakh on a single restaurant visit. Here are all the delicious updates for you!
Zomato User Paid ₹5 Lakh At Bengaluru Restaurant This Year
In its year-end report, Zomato released statistics about its dine-out and food delivery sections. Biryani continues to rule our hearts and tables this year as well. With over three biryanis ordered every second this year. India is filled with biryani lovers, no doubt about that! This one-pot dish is a complete meal and a value-added one too! Biryani lovers ordered 9,13,99,110 plates of the dish this year. Swiggy as well, declared this rice dish to be the most ordered one on their app.
As per Zomato, one unnamed foodie from Bengaluru spent a whopping ₹5,13,733 during a single restaurant visit. Now that’s a royal sum! On Father’s Day, 84,866 people pampered their fathers for a nice lunch or dinner. City-specific data showed that Delhi is India’s favourite place for budget-friendly foodies. Delhiites smartly saved ₹195 crores on their dining-out bills by using the app. Bengaluru and Mumbai followed suit but none could beat or even close to Delhi in terms of savings.

Biryani, Pizza & Tea Among Most Ordered Items
Apart from biryani, pizza was another much-loved dish by foodies this year. The food delivery giant delivered over around 5 crore pizzas or 5,84,46,908 pizzas precisely, this year. Our tea-drinking nation witnessed foodies not just preparing tea at home but also ordering it on the app, beating coffee yet again. This year witnessed 77,76,725 tea orders and 74,32,856 coffee orders. So, tea beat coffee marginally!
