Ambernath’s ancient heritage and architectural masterpiece, Shiv Temple, will soon undergo a facelift. This temple in the eastern suburban city of Mumbai is a historic Hindu temple that was built in the 11th century. The proposal about the beautification of the temple has finally received approval from the Archeological Survey of India (ASI). The state government, therefore, has allocated ₹138 crore for this much awaited beautification.
Beautification Of Ambernath’s Shiv Temple
The beautification work of Ambernath’s Shiv temple will be implemented by the Ambernath Municipal Council (AMC). The council has finally received a NOC from the Archeological Survey of India (ASI). The state government has sanctioned ₹138 crore for the beautification of the temple and its surroundings in order to attract people from across the globe. The funds were recently allocated to AMC. Out of the total ₹138 crore, work on ₹125 crore will be started soon.
Black stone will be used for the beautification of the entire temple. The banks of the river Waldhuni, on which the Shiva temple is situated, are to be developed in the form of a ghat. An expenditure of ₹40 crore is expected for this. Along with this, a devotee residence will also be constructed. The beautification of the amphitheatre, exhibition hall, and kundas is also planned, with an expenditure of approximately ₹6 crore.

Hired A Landscape Designer And The Work Will Begin Soon
Kalyan MP Dr Shrikant Shinde, who is the mind behind this idea, informed that the state allocated funds on the holy occasion of Mahashivratri. He also said that the tender for the work will be issued soon, following which the facelifting process will begin too. They have also hired landscape designer Arun Kumar for this project, who earlier worked on Akshar Dham in Delhi and Ahmedabad.
Dr Shinde said that the beautification of the temple will be on the lines of Kashi Vishwanath temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi. Landscape designer Arun Kumar said that a sewage treatment plan will also be set up ahead of the temple. This will help to keep the water clean, and the people can perform puja and aarti on the ghat just like in Kashi. This year, Ambernath’s Shiv temple will be hosting an art festival from March 16 to March 19, 2023.
