A dark cloud hangs over Uttar Pradesh as a major train accident involving the Dibrugarh Express has left a trail of devastation in its wake. The incident, which occurred at around 2:35 pm on Thursday, saw 12 coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derail near Gonda, causing widespread panic and inflicting casualties.

Early reports paint a disturbing picture. Two passengers have tragically lost their life, while several others are reported to be injured. The horrific event unfolded between Gonda and Jhilahi stations, near the Pikora area. Train number 15904, which was dutifully traversing its route from Chandigarh to Dibrugarh, became the unfortunate victim of the derailment.

The initial video footage emerging from the scene is a stark portrayal of the aftermath. The mangled remains of several AC coaches offer a glimpse of the immense force involved in the derailment. Passengers, understandably gripped by fear, can be heard screaming in the harrowing footage as the train screeched to a halt.

Rescue Teams Deployed

Rescue teams from Gonda have swiftly been deployed to the accident site, where they are working tirelessly to assist the affected passengers. The Indian Railways’ medical van has also arrived at the location, and medical personnel are currently engaged in crucial rescue operations.

Reacting swiftly to the tragedy, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, has directed the authorities to provide all necessary assistance to those caught in the disaster. The cause of the derailment remains in mystery for now, and further details regarding the number of casualties and the extent of injuries are still awaited.
