Dhanasekaran, like countless others, had ventured far from home in pursuit of livelihood, working in the bustling city of Muscat. His flight back to India, intended to be a joyous reunion with family and friends, took a heart-wrenching turn. As the flight touched down in Chennai, the cabin crew, diligent in their duties, discovered Dhanasekaran unresponsive within the aircraft.

Initially, a veil of uncertainty shrouded the situation as the crew assumed he was merely asleep, gently attempting to rouse him from slumber. The harsh truth, however, unveiled itself, and it became evident that this was no ordinary nap. Dhanasekaran was in a state of unconsciousness.

The ground authorities were swiftly alerted, and a medical team was dispatched to the scene. Despite the relentless endeavours of the medical professionals, his life could not be reclaimed. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the airport’s emergency medical centre. The airport police took charge following the protocol.

Airlines worldwide maintain comprehensive protocols to address medical crises on board, equipped with trained cabin crews and well-stocked medical kits. However, as demonstrated by this unfortunate incident, the outcomes of such situations can remain enigmatic, even with the best-prepared interventions.

Earlier, on August 22, a 62-year-old passenger aboard an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Ranchi experienced a distressing episode, vomiting blood mid-flight. This grave situation prompted an emergency landing at Nagpur’s Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport.

Medical authorities regrettably declared the unfortunate passenger, identified as Devanand Tiwari, lifeless upon his urgent arrival at a medical college in Nagpur.

In this time of profound sorrow, the authorities informed members of the K Dhanasekaran family about the tragic event. Our hearts extend to them in their moment of profound loss.
