The highly anticipated Phoenix Mall of Asia near Hebbal opened its grand doors to the public on October 27, Friday at 12pm. What followed was a live musical performance by the three-time Grammy award winner and Bengaluru boy, Ricky Kej.
What’s to look forward to at Phoenix Mall of Asia? What’s the hype all about, you ask? Nestled across an impressive 13 acres the mall is home to a whopping collection of 440 renowned brands, a gorgeous 14-screen INOX Megaplex and over 50 delish restaurants and cafes.
From trendy streetwear to fashion labels to high-end couture, Bangalore’s largest mall is a shopping paradise. The parking space itself can accommodate 3100 vehicles. Now, while these are reasons enough for the mall to trend on social media platforms, it’s actually causing an Internet frenzy for a whole different reason.
But the party isn’t over – the celebration continues for the next two days! Experience the fusion of music, dance, and pyrotechnics as we keep the excitement alive. Don’t miss this incredible extravaganza that’s setting the tone for an unforgettable shopping experience! pic.twitter.com/McZgcv7iNU

On its opening weekend, Phoenix Mall of Asia near Hebbal caused an unfathomable traffic jam in Bangalore. As curious Bangaloreans flocked in large numbers to explore the extravagant mall, its entertainment and recreation offerings, the roads near Hebbal bore the brunt.
Netizens Take To X To Share Their Traffic Woes
It caused massive traffic snarls near the area. Many commuters took to X to share their experiences battling traffic for hours. They shared pictures and videos of the congested roads where vehicles showed no sign of moving forward. Some even shared screenshots of their Google Maps that showed red lines along the roads, indicating chaotic traffic situations.
With the advent of this mall, it can unfortunately become another Whitefield road situation, fears this X user.
The ‘Phoenix Mall of Asia’ opened for business in the BLR Airport Rd – the one road where traffic, while chaotic, at least moves. And with this mall, trademarked with BBMP’s consistent inability to plan roads better, the Yelahanka junction will become another Whitefield Rd.

Even residents staying near the mall have taken to X to appeal to the cops to impose “no parking” around Phoenix Mall of Asia.
@blrcitytraffic please impose strict NO PARKING around Phoenix Mall of Asia. Life of near-by residents has becom miserable. I really feel petty for the cops managing mad traffic.

Looks like Bengaluru Traffic Police need to jump in and ensure such situations do not happen in the future.
L&T Phoenix Mall of Asia opening to public is causing a huge traffic disruption in the vicinity. It took me almost 2 hours last evening from Jakkur junction to cross GKVK junction on the other side. The mall mgmt & traffic authorities should discuss and sort out this issue imm.

40 minutes for 500m? Someone rightly said that the fastest mode of transportation is walking in Bangalore.
New mall opens in bengaluru and people welcomed it with open arms and traffic. It took us 40 minutes to reach ~500m.

Beat the traffic by avoiding a visit to the mall. Is that a viable solution?
It’s a simple solution. DON’T GO. What can the police do about it.

The last colour we’d want to see on your Google Maps is red. And if it happens in Bangalore, then that’s Halloween horrors.
