Metro is a public transport service that offers a cheaper way to travel for city dwellers and helps them commute, comfortably and quickly. From the tunnelling work of Bangalore Metro, Pune Metro’s new route and more, here are 5 metro news for you.

1. Bangalore Metro: Tunnelling From Lakkasandra To Langford Town Station Completed

As part of the Dairy Circle to Nagawara tunnel network, Rudra, a tunnel boring machine (TBM) operated by BMRCL, finished the last 718-metre tunnelling length from Lakkasandra to Langford Town Station in under 100 days. Rudra has previously finished 613.2 metres between the Dairy Circle station and the South Ramp and 746.2 metres between the Dairy Circle station and Lakkasandra station.

2. Mumbai Local Like Rush In Bangalore Metro

An online video of Bangalore Metro’s peak rush has surfaced. Many were reminded of Mumbai’s local trains, which carry thousands of passengers throughout the city and its suburbs, by the crowded pictures from the state transit system in the south. As the video went viral, the much-discussed trains from the densely-populated city were compared with the metro services in the IT cluster.

The video showed a significant rush being experienced by the women’s coach on the metro rail. Some women were spotted attempting to squeeze into the train, while others were seen clinging to the footboard. The train was supposed to travel in the direction of Whitefield (Kadugodi), according to the indicator.

3. Two Corridors Of Delhi Metro Phase-IV Project nearing Approval

The Phase-IV project of Delhi Metro has two of its three remaining corridors undergoing advanced stages of approval. When the DMRC’s new routes are completed, connectivity in the nation’s capital will be much better. The three remaining corridors are Rithala-Bawana-Narela, Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block and Inderlok-Indraprastha. It is intended for the DMRC’s Rithala-Bawana-Narela Metro corridor to reach Kundli in Haryana. After the Green Line (Bahadurgarh), Violet Line (Faridabad), and Yellow Line (Gurugram), this would be Delhi Metro’s fourth expansion into a nearby state.

4. 9th Rake For Mumbai Metro 3 Phase-I Arrived!

The Metro 3 Colaba-Bandra-Seepz line’s ninth rake has arrived in Mumbai and is anticipated to arrive at the Aarey car yard on November 1. This would provide the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC)— responsible for building this subterranean corridor—with all the rakes required to start Phase I operations of the Aarey-Bandra-Kurla Complex line. Alstom, which manufactures them at its plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, was to supply MMRC with thirty-one eight-coach rakes.

5. Second Set Of Indore Metro Coaches To Arrive In December

In December, the city will be served by the second batch of Indore Metro trains. At the company’s Vadodara plant, a set of three coaches will be completed in one and a half months. At the end of the year, these coaches will be dispatched to Indore. This is another important metro news update.

6. The New Route Of Pune Metro To Open In March 2024

Last year, the much anticipated Pune Metro system finally got underway, which was a big step forward for the area’s public transit system. It significantly increased the possibilities for locals to commute when it first ran between PCMC and Phugewadi. In an effort to improve connectivity even more, it has been providing service to the civil court since August 1.

The next phase of expansion calls for a March 2024 start date from Pimpri to Swargate. The residents of Pimpri Chinchwad will now have a direct route, which will save travellers a significant amount of time.
