Arunachal Pradesh is one place in India that’s less explored by tourists. The place which can only be visited by obtaining a permit has some of the best lakes in India. Be it the beautiful Madhuri Lake or the historic Bum La Pass, Arunachal Pradesh spellbinds you with its raw beauty. And to explore more of this place, I went on a solo trip to Arunachal Pradesh, and here are five tips that I have for you. So if you are planning a solo trip to the land of the rising sun- Arunachal, keep these tips in mind.

1. There Are No Buses For Tourists
When it comes to travelling in and around Arunachal, you must note that the only option from reaching point A to B is by a shared cab. And if you want to explore a town, either hire a cab, hitchhike or walk around. Most of the tourists’ attractions are near each other, so walking is always a great option. Unlike other places like Himachal Pradesh-there are no buses inside Arunachal.
2. You Will Barely Find A Hostel
Arunachal is a big state, but when it comes to hostel culture- the state is still behind and has no or very limited options. Tawang has one hostel, whereas Bomdilla, Dirang, and Ziro have none. So if you are a solo traveller, opt for Homestays since they are not only cheaper and safer than hotels, but the locals will also help you plan your routes and trips.
3. Avoid Night Travel
Arunachal Pradesh is by far the safest state I have been to as a solo traveller- however, being a mountain area, it’s best to avoid travelling after sunset. You are alone, you don’t anyone around, and it gets dark early, so it’s better to finish all your touristy things in the daylight.

4. Carry Cash
Some places in Arunachal don’t take cards or GPay, so it’s always better to carry cash. Use cash at places where they don’t accept cards or digital payments- for other places, you can opt for Digital payment methods. Also, ensure that you ask about this before placing an order or making a purchase- this way, you will know when to use your cash and when to not.
5. Explore Everything Before The Sunset
The sun sets in Arunachal at 4 30 PM, and it gets pitch dark after that. So start your day early, plan your itinerary well and ensure that you are done with everything before the sunset and don’t get lost in the dark. While Arunachal is safe, it is always better to avoid taking risks.
