The Annual Wedding Report 2024 survey of India conducted by WedMeGood looks at honeymoon preferences, wedding planners, wedding budgets, and the increasing use of digital tools in contemporary weddings. Given their size, opulence, and customs, wedding trends in India are unlike any other. It is anticipated that India’s wedding season will surpass previous records in 2024, with an estimated 4.8 million weddings taking place between October and December, bringing in ₹6 trillion in revenue. India is the world’s second-largest wedding market, after the United States. Between April 2024 and March 2025, WedMeGood’s survey included more than 3,500 couples who were planning their weddings as well as more than 500 wedding suppliers.
From Wedding Planners To How Couples Meet: Here Are The New Trends
Mehak Sagar Shahani, co-founder of WedMeGood, mentioned that the study shows how social networking applications for couples are becoming more and more popular than dating or matrimonial apps, especially for weddings, bachelorette parties, and talking about money and mental health before marriage, as reported by Press Trust of India.
Wedding planners are becoming more and more popular in India; 16.7% of couples hire them, up 15% from 2023–2024. The main cause of this trend is the increase in destination weddings, which now account for one-fourth of all weddings and cost more than ₹1 crore in more than 60% of cases.
According to this survey, young couples are becoming more concerned about sustainability; 45.5% of them choose lab-grown diamonds, and 52% choose environmentally friendly options like limiting their use of plastic or donating extra food.
Travel is becoming more popular, as seen by the 31% of respondents who intend to spend more than ₹5 lakh on their honeymoon. While Europe, Turkey, Thailand, Bali, the Maldives, and Mauritius are famous overseas travel destinations, prominent Indian travel destinations include Goa, Manali, Kerala, Shimla, and Northeast India.
More than 80% of wedding costs came from personal or family savings, demonstrating the active participation of millennials in the financing process. About 12% took out loans and 6% liquified assets, particularly for high-cost categories.
Annual Wedding Survey 2024 Findings Of Bengaluru
According to the Annual Wedding Report 2024, Bengaluru draws 30% more guests even though the average wedding spend is 12% less than the 36.5 lakh national average.
Further, as per Mehak, 5.7% of Bengaluru couples spend more than ₹1 crore on their weddings, whereas the overall figure is 9%.
For the second year in a row, the average age for arranged and love marriages remained at 28, indicating a trend towards later marriages in 2024. Shaadi.com is the preferred marriage website, although Bumble and Hinge are still well-liked by brides and grooms.
