The invention of travel adapters is surely a boon. For people who don’t know, travel adapters are plugs that help connect one electrical device brought from one country to the electrical supply of another country. They are used especially while travelling, hence the name. In a worrying case, about 7,000 travel adapters were pulled from the shelves because of the risk of electrocution and fire.

Travel Adapters Been Called Back

Ahead of the summer season, over 7,000 travel adapters have been recalled due to the risk of electrocution and fire.

A large-scale product safety investigation was carried out by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC). As a part of this, they recalled about 7,262 travel adapters and pulled 6,245 off the shelf.

Hence, CCPC is asking all travellers to check safety tips before using travel adapters on their trips abroad. There were a number of safety concerns that came up after the team did expert testing of these adapters. They found risks of fire, electrocution and wrong product information.

They mentioned that adapters are high-risk electrical products, and hence it is important to take extra caution while using them.
