Booking.com, one of the world’s leading digital travel platforms, has revealed some interesting trends and insights that are shaping the travel habits of Indian Gen Zs in 2024. Noting that 65% of India’s population is under the age of 35 years, the travel sentiment of this influential generation is quite different from the older ones. Booking.com revealed that while Indian Gen Zs are eager for unique and immersive experiences, they prioritise value for money while travelling.

According to the report, Indian Gen Z travellers are budget-conscious. Nearly 71% of them opt to travel outside peak season to save money. A good value-for-money trip is an important destination-determining factor for 51% of Gen Z travellers. That’s why nearly 73% of them look for travel discounts through loyalty programmes to save as much as possible. As per the report, in 2024, 62% of Indian Gen Zs are likely to take a short domestic trip that usually lasts 1 to 4 nights.

Booking.com’s Report Reveals How Young India Is Travelling In 2024

Besides saving money with off-season travel, Booking.com also revealed several other travel trends of Gen Z in 2024. They have noticed that almost 85% of Indian Gen Z travellers seek to travel solo. But they balance this with nearly 69% of them likely to travel with family members and 61% with their parents this year.

With a firm belief that travel is a way of life, this generation is choosing cultural, immersive and unique experiences and pursuing flexible travel options this year. While saving money on their travel, they are also embracing the tech prowess these days demanding innovative, technology-based travel solutions and experiential travel. That’s why, 73% of them are willing to use an AI trip planner to plan an itinerary for a trip. In fact, 68% of Indian Gen Zs trust AI to recommend places that are less ‘touristy’ and more ‘off the beaten track’ destinations during their travel. Not to mention, 71% of the young folks use social media as their sources of inspiration to gather travel ideas and inspiration.
