A Street Vendor Actually Fries Paratha In Diesel; Why Has No One Stopped Him Yet?

diesel paratha

A video posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by the handle “@nebula_world” has left netizens in disbelief and sent shivers down the spines of health-conscious foodies. The clip features a cook at a dhaba, proudly preparing a paratha – a popular flatbread – in what appears to be petrol or diesel.

Netizens In Disbelief: “What Is The Mileage?”

The caption on the post itself says it all: “True recipe for cancer (petrol diesel wala paratha) Where are we heading?” with a whopping 395,000 views at the time of writing. The video opens with the cook pouring a liquid from a tin can onto the paratha. When repeatedly questioned if it’s truly petrol, the man boldly confirms his actions. He then proceeds to “deep fry” the paratha in the fuel, turning it a disturbing shade of black and brown.

The internet, unsurprisingly, erupted in disapproval. Comments flooded the platform, expressing a mix of disgust and concern.  One user questioned the basic logic, stating, “Yeh diesel mein aag kyun nahi lag rahi (Why isn’t the diesel catching fire)?” Another offered a sarcastic remark, “At least he wore a cap on his head so there’s no hair in the cancer paratha.”  A few comments even attempted humour, with one user jokingly saying, “Still safer than whey protein and eggs.”

Serious Health Risks Involved

Experts warn that consuming any food cooked in petrol or diesel is extremely hazardous. Fumes from these fuels can be toxic when inhaled, and ingesting them can lead to serious health problems, including organ damage and even cancer, as the caption on the video suggests.

The motive behind the dhaba’s bizarre culinary creation remains unclear. Some speculate it might be a publicity stunt, while others fear it could be a dangerous trendsetter. Regardless of the reason, the video serves as a stark reminder of the lengths some may go to for online attention, often at the expense of common sense and public health.

While the “diesel paratha” has garnered attention, it’s important to remember the vast and delicious world of authentic parathas. From the ever-popular aloo paratha (potato) to gobi paratha (cauliflower) and paneer paratha (cottage cheese), there’s a flavour combination to suit every palate. So, the next time you crave a paratha, skip the dubious petrol-infused versions and opt for a safe and scrumptious option!
