Hold onto your helmets, the summer’s biggest film, F1® The Movie is speeding to Abu Dhabi. F1® The Movie, starring Brad Pitt and directed by Joseph Kosinski, is racing back to where it all began for a special regional premiere on 25 June 2025. The movie hits Middle Eastern cinemas the very next day, 26 June, distributed worldwide and in IMAX by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Brad Pitt’s F1® The Movie Gears Up for Abu Dhabi Premiere

The film wrapped up production at last year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with an incredible team effort. In partnership with the Creative Media Authority, Abu Dhabi Film Commission, and local production partner Epic Films, F1® The Movie shot several scenes across Yas Marina Circuit, Zayed International Airport, and twofour54 Studios. The local crew of 284 experts joined forces with international filmmakers for three shoots, spanning 29 days. The collaboration even gave 15 young Emirati interns a golden opportunity to learn from the best, gaining hands-on experience on a blockbuster set.

The Abu Dhabi Film Commission’s generous rebate scheme helped make this possible, supporting over 180 major productions since 2013. Now, the cast and crew will walk the red carpet in Abu Dhabi, celebrating this “full circle” moment in a city that played a starring role behind the scenes.

The Story Behind the Speed

F1® The Movie follows Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), a former Formula 1 driver once hailed as “the greatest that never was.” After a career-threatening crash in the 1990s, Sonny drifts through life as a nomadic racer-for-hire. That changes when his old teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), owner of a struggling F1 team asks him to return for one last shot at glory. Ruben’s team teeters on the edge of collapse, and Sonny must race alongside Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), a fierce rookie hungry to prove himself.

The film enjoys strong collaboration with Formula 1 itself, working closely with the sport’s management, teams, drivers, and the FIA.
