Abu Dhabi Launches ‘Noukhat Abu Dhabi’, A 2-Month Training Programme For Sailing Enthusiasts

Ready to make waves? Abu Dhabi is setting sail with a brand-new marine adventure that’s bringing back the thrill of traditional sailing. The Noukhthat Abu Dhabi programme is officially launching on 30 June 2025, and it’s the perfect chance for young sailors to dive into the UAE’s rich maritime history, with a modern twist, of course.

Backed by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Academy and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, this two-month programme is gearing up to welcome over 200 sailing enthusiasts and fresh faces to the world of dhow sailing. And we’re not talking about a quick boat ride, this is proper training that will teach the real art of sailing, straight from the shores of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club.

Whether you’re a curious newbie or already dreaming of catching the wind like a pro, this programme is here to help you connect with the UAE’s proud maritime roots. The Academy isn’t just looking to teach, they’re looking to find the next generation of dhow captains who’ll keep the legacy alive.

Learning Sailing Skills & Dhow Navigation

Noukhthat Abu Dhabi will be teaching participants the basics of dhow sailing. It would include learning how to handle a 22-foot dhow to mastering the art of navigation, to participating in real sailing races..

Apart from that, there’s a whole plan to track young talent throughout the programme. Specialised teams will keep a close eye on the participants, spotting future champions who could soon sail in the 43-foot and 60-foot dhow categories. Yes, you could go from beginner to captain-in-the-making, all under expert guidance.
