Last Friday, a transatlantic Delta flight was forced to make an emergency landing when a passenger experienced a medical issue. According to audio from the flight deck, it was probably caused by someone who had diarrhoea through the plane.
According to Flightradar24 data, the plane conducted a U-turn two hours into the eight-hour flight from Atlanta, Georgia, to Barcelona, Spain. An audio transmission between the pilot and ATC (Air Traffic Control) was shared on X (formerly known as Twitter).
According to it, there wasn’t any technical issue with the Airbus A350. However, the pilot did confirm that a passenger was suffering from diarrhoea and called it a ‘biohazard.’
Another image posted to the ATC subreddit appears to show flight progress strips connected to the event from last Friday. According to the report, the flight was diverted to Atlanta because a passenger was suffering from diarrhoea.

Airline Issued An Apology For The Delay
Although the responsible passenger has not been located, all passengers and personnel were moved to another flight. Passengers were able to board the same aircraft for their flight to Barcelona after the plane made a thorough cleaning stop in Atlanta. The flight left eight hours later than expected as a result of this delay.
It is still unknown if the passenger who experienced the gastrointestinal problem was present when the plane eventually landed in Spain. A ”medical incident” on the flight, which led to the emergency landing and subsequent cleaning, was confirmed by Delta officials. They did not, however, go into great depth about the incident’s medical cause.
A Delta spokeswoman issued an apology to customers for the travel difficulties brought on by the delay. According to them, their personnel worked as fast and safely as possible to properly clean the aeroplane and send their customers to their ultimate destination.
