Mayurbhanj, the birthplace of President Droupadi Murmu is all set to welcome her for her second visit to the region on November 20. President Droupadi Murmu will be on a historic visit to Badampahar railway station on November 21 to flag off three trains connecting the tribal area to major cities in India. The best part is that the people of Badampahar will welcome an express train for the first time in 90 years.
President Droupadi Murmu To Launch 3 Trains At Badampahar Railway Station; 1st Express In 90 Yrs
According to a report by Dainik Jagran, people in Badampahar have been waiting for an express train for the past 90 years. On November 21, President Droupadi Murmu will arrive at Badampahar railway station in Odisha to flag off three trains connecting tribal areas to major Indian cities. She will launch the Badampahad-Rourkela Weekly Express, Shalimar-Badampahar Weekly Express and Tatanagar-Badampahad MEMU special train.
Shalimar-Badampahar Weekly Express will run from Badampahar to Kolkata via Rourkela. Badampahad-Rourkela Weekly Express will operate from Badampahad to Rourkela. Finally, the Tatanagar-Badampahad MEMU special train will connect President Droupadi Murmu’s native place, Rairangpur to prominent destinations. The authorities are working hard to ensure the inauguration ceremony of the three trains is a historic event in Badampahar.
They are actively preparing themselves for the President’s arrival at Badampahar railway station. Another historic moment is that for the first time ever a President of India will travel in a normal AC train. Instead of a special Presidential train, President Droupadi Murmu will travel in a normal AC train. She will board the Badampahar Shalimar Express and will travel 32 km to Rairangpur with 200 school students. Next, she will travel to Baripada and attend other events during her 2-day trip.
The Fulfilment Of Her Long-standing Dream!
The inauguration of the three trains at Badampahar railway station is a special day for the President of India. It was a long-standing dream for years to connect her native place to major cities and business centres in India. Ever since railway service started in Mayurbhanj in 1932 people of the region haven’t had any express train service. The Raja of Mayurbhanj was responsible for establishing a railway station during his reign to ensure the smooth transportation of minerals from Badampahar to Jamshedpur and Tatanagar.

At the end of his monarchy, Mayurbhanj became a district in Odisha. The locals in Badampahar are overjoyed with the launch of the first express train in 90 years. They decorated the station with flowers and banners to welcome President Droupadi Murmu and kickstart the inauguration with full glory. President Droupadi Murmu will also inaugurate Skill Training Centre in Pahadpur and pay tribute to her late husband, Shyam Charan Murmu there. She will garland his statue. Later, she will visit the SLS Memorial School dedicated to her husband and sons.
