After Cabin Crew, IndiGo Technicians Call In Sick; Here’s What Is Going On

IndiGo – one of India’s successful commercial airlines is facing continuous challenges in keeping its employees in place. Previously, the airline had hundreds of cabin crew take ‘sick leave’ to attend the recruitment drive of Air India in various cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata. Now, IndiGo is once again in a fix as most of its technicians are on leave since last Friday. Technicians from various flight bases are not working as a mark of protest.

Why Are IndiGo’s Employees On Leave?

This is the second time that IndiGo is undergoing such a situation due to its employees. The technicians at Hyderabad are on leave since Friday. And according to reports, IndiGo’s technicians at many other bases too are not working. Some of the aircraft engineers have demanded a revision in their salary too.

During the pandemic, IndiGo too, like other companies had cut the salaries of its employees. Now, the airlines had restored the partial salaries of its pilots and cabin crew. As per reports, IndiGo employees are dissatisfied with the airlines for not restoring their salaries despite the lifting of Covid-19 travel restrictions.

How Are They Dealing With This Ongoing Crisis?

According to a media report, IndiGo had even suspended a few of its employees after they had called in mass ‘sick leave’. The company took the decision saying it was a clear violation of its code of conduct.

It may be noted that IndiGo is undergoing this massive crisis at a time when its competitor flight services like Air India, Jet Airways and Akasa Air are actively recruiting people.

With the inauguration of the Deoghar airport, IndiGo also announced that it is the airline’s official day of operations from its 74th destination. Take a look at the post here –
