After Yamunotri Highway, Uttarakhand Landslides Block Baluwakot-Dharchula Road

If you’ve been following the news lately, you know that Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are facing some of the most severe rainfall issues in the country. With Uttarakhand landslides and flooding galore, the authorities are desperately trying to aid the situation as much as they possibly can. Now, it seems that the road between Baluwakot and Dharchula has been blocked by a landslide. Here are all the details that are available about the situation so far.

The landslide took place on the 16th of July. The road in Dharchula that leads to Baluwakot, which is also sometimes spelt Balwakot or Baluwakote, was blocked owing to a landslide as per a senior official. According to an article recently published in the ANI, this particular incident took place near network and electricity poles.

Consequently, they were damaged by it and the network in the area is understandably affected. This particular road in Dharchula, which is 200 metres long, is located in the district of Pithoragarh. Divesh Shashani, who is the Joint Magistrate of Dharchula has immediately ordered the concerned company to start reparation and restoration work.

In order to ensure a smooth restoration and prevent further danger to humans, the administration has also asked people to travel only after contacting the disaster management and control department.

Yamunotri Highway Also Witnessed A Similar Fate

Yamunotri Highway, which is a part of National Highway 123, has also recently been blocked. The roadway was blocked because rubble and debris from Garhwal district’s Chami Village located in the Pauri Tehsil kept falling on it.

This happened on the 15th of July, Saturday. According to officials, many vehicles were stuck on both sides of the road. Another similar incident took place on the Badrinath National Highway which was blocked at Pipaloti near the Pagal Nala.

According to the ANI article, the National Disaster Response Force or the NDRF is making continuous efforts to rescue people in the flood-affected regions of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Haryana.
