Indian Railways has announced a special train between Mumbai and Bengaluru to meet the expected rise in passenger demand during the upcoming Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath festival season. The special service will be operated and maintained by Central Railway (CR) and will connect Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai with Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru. Read on to know more.
Indian Railways Announces Mumbai-Bengaluru Special Trains
The Mumbai-Bengaluru special train will operate as train numbers 01013 and 01014. The service is expected to cover the distance between the two cities in around 23 hours and 30 minutes.
According to Dr Manjunath Kanamadi, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of South Western Railway (SWR), the special trains will make seven trips in each direction. The service will operate as a weekly special from October to cater to the additional rush during the festive season. The train will halt at 24 stations during its journey between Mumbai and Bengaluru. These include Dadar, Thane, Kalyan, Lonavala, Pune, Lonand, Satara, Karad, Sangli, Miraj, Kudachi, Raybag, Ghataprabha, Belagavi, Londa, Dharwad, SSS Hubballi, SMM Haveri, Ranibennur, Harihar, Davangere, Birur, Arsikere and Tumakuru.

The long list of stoppages will allow passengers from several cities and towns across Maharashtra and Karnataka to use the festive special.
Mumbai-Bengaluru Special Train Timings
Train number 01013 CSMT Mumbai-SMVT Bengaluru Special will depart from CSMT every Saturday from October 10 to November 21 at 12:35 am and reach SMVT Bengaluru at 11:55 pm the same day. In the return direction, train number 01014 SMVT Bengaluru-CSMT Mumbai Special will leave SMVT Bengaluru every Sunday from October 11 to November 22 at 4:30 am. It will arrive at CSMT at 4:05 am the following day.

The special train will have a total of 22 coaches. These will include two AC 2-Tier coaches, 18 AC 3-Tier coaches and two Luggage-cum-Guard-cum-Generator Vans. The additional service is expected to provide more travel options for passengers planning journeys between Mumbai and Bengaluru during the busy festive period.
