Train travel in India is not what it used to be years ago. Times have changed, and trains now come with several upgrades that make journeys more comfortable and faster. Another train that passengers are eagerly waiting for is the Vande Bharat Sleeper between Bengaluru and Mumbai. Here’s the latest update on it!
Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Reaches Final Testing
The new Vande Bharat Sleeper train has now reached Bengaluru railway station for final testing. As per The Indian Express, once launched, it will become the second Vande Bharat Sleeper train in the country and will run between KSR Bengaluru and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Mumbai. The train has been built using technology developed by Chennai’s Integral Coach Factory (ICF).
The new service is expected to improve rail connectivity between Bengaluru, the Hubballi-Dharwad region, Belagavi, Pune and Mumbai. The orange and grey train coaches come with upgraded features, including easy-to-climb stairs, cabins, automatic doors and much more.

Where Is the Train Currently Stationed?
Railway officials have parked the Vande Bharat Sleeper at SMVT Bengaluru station for testing and operational checks. The Indian Express reported that they chose the station because it offers a convenient location for the ongoing trials. They also confirmed that the train comes with a total of 16 coaches.
This new train can easily accommodate 823 passengers. Out of these, 611 seats are available in 3-tier coaches, 188 in 2-tier coaches and 24 in First AC.
The first Vande Bharat Sleeper train started running between Howrah and Kamakhya in January 2026. The service has made travel much faster, cutting the journey time by up to six hours and giving passengers a more comfortable ride.
