According to an article which was recently published by The Times Of India or TOI, Darjeeling is prone to landslides owing to its hilly landscapes. Hence, the IMD has issued an alert for it in the region. It has also issued an alert for heavy rainfall in Kolkata.
If reports are to go by, the rainfall could go on till October 13, 2024. Between October 6 and 9, however, only light to moderate rain is expected. It is likely that the Durga Puja festivities and activities that take place outdoors will be interrupted by thunderstorms.
Alerts for other regions in North Bengal have also been provided. Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, and Dakshin Dinajpur are predicted to witness gusty winds, thunderstorms and heavy rainfall between Sunday, October 6, 2024, to Wednesday, October 9, 2024.

For those who may be travelling to West Bengal for the Durga Puja festivities, all precautionary measures necessary are urged. They are also advised to keep checking the weather forecast for the regions they’ll be in to ensure they are not caught by surprise.
South Bengal may experience rain and the cause is the upper air circulation over southeast Bangladesh. It may develop into a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. One thing is for sure though, the rain cannot dampen the spirit of Durga Puja.
